Over 1.6 million people living across the Greater #Beirut & Mount Lebanon area will directly benefit from this project, 30% of whom live under the poverty line.

Protesters in the Lebanese capital have pelted prime minister Saad Hariri with water bottles amid a protest against proposed tax hikes. Protesters gathered in central Beirut amid tight security to oppose the new measure. They gathered to oppose a surge in tax that is meant to fund a new wage increase for public sector employees. They say they will not pay any extra tax to fund the government budget. Last week, Lebanese lawmakers approved several tax hikes, including a one percentage point increase in sales tax. The tax hike is meant to raise taxes to help agree a deal on public sector pay rises. This comes as the country plans to endorse its first state budget in 12 years. I am in Beirut, Lebanon! I am currently interning with an amazing Christian nonprofit to help provide aid and relief for the Syrian Refugee crisis for the summer and am a little over a week in. I primarily work Mon-Thurs and Sunday so the clips are collection from some of the work and my time off. We have been doing a lot of work in churches and refugees camps. The refugee camps I have been to so far have asked us not to take pictures. But I am going to Bekaa Valley tomorrow, the largest Syrian refugee camp in all of Lebanon, for several days to film an organization that will be putting up tents and handing out supplies and hope to post about that soon! with love, elena @elenataber Come say hi: http://bit.ly/elenataber Business Inquiries: email@example.com

Welcome to Beirut! My Lebanese experience was more than I could have ever hoped for. Lebanon is a beautiful country filled with culture, history, incredible food, and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Lebanon's capital and largest city, Beirut, is the Paris of the Middle East (although comparing Beirut to Paris does not do it justice). Beirut needs to be at the top of everyone's travel bucket-list for 2017. Here is a glimpse of what it's like to visit and explore the beautiful city and outer areas of Beirut, Lebanon. SUBSCRIBE: http://www.youtube.com/c/VicStefanu - Let's visit Beirut which is the capital and largest city of Lebanon. Located on a peninsula at the midpoint of Lebanon's Mediterranean coast, Beirut is the country's largest and main seaport. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, inhabited more than 5,000 years ago. The first historical mention of Beirut is found in the ancient Egyptian Tell el Amarna letters dating from the 15th century BC. The Beirut River runs south to north on the eastern edge of the city. Since the end of the war in 1990, the people of Lebanon have been rebuilding Beirut, and by the start of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict the city had somewhat regained its status as a tourist, cultural and intellectual center in the Middle East and as a centre for commerce, f...
